he describe the board below: Here are a few of a pintail spoon!
marc's shapes are so clean! the first pic took me back. I have seen little glimpses of that board he is holding...but that shot...the board pops! then these two of the spoon. SUPER CLEAN!!! that red stripe just seems so right! Marc is super STOKED!!!

Marc mentioned he might have a pig he could shoot some photos of and post up here as a board for sale. It is currently at a shop, I sure would be stoked feature it here also.

head dips and cut backs...curl shoots and nose rides!

nice one out there today. this blog seems like it should be called "chronicles of sliders point". there have been a few post of pigs here and there. and all this sliders point action is on my 9'10" wing nosed JP pig. so that counts for something i guess. I am so stoked to be growing into this new board. I feel so fortunate to be scoring these waves on this board. NICE!!! I hope you all are scoring too!

it was a fishy day out there. there was a bait ball spinning around right past the take off spot. a HUGE grey shape with a large white portion swept past under me. gave me the hebbie jeebies.

peaky day pig surf!

sliders point walk! I am so pumped on this jim phillips board. it has all the right curves in all the right places.walked up to see some snappers! little fade left whip right or fade right swing left curl shoots waiting to be had.
had to put this photo in here. I found it on 4q. i figure these girls would benefit from some time with a pig.

Surfing is very fun

I hope everyone out there scored some waves today. This morning was a perfect example of why I surf. Warm clear water, light crowd, exceptionally functioning board, and NICE WAVES!!! I became a little embarrassed by the attention my surfboard was causing me.
Its not so much me..its the board. This JP pig is AMAZING! Its 9'10" and seems to be near 23 " wide.

SUPER NICE!!

My new (to me) Jim Phillips Pig!!!

This JP pig is legit. So clean and so functional. Very loose when I am back on the tail and very stable when I am on the nose. What more can you ask for? Ohh! did I forget to mention its fast. Yeah. Its a fast board. I was on the nose in a cheater 5, put my head down and trusted the board to make it through the section. I made sections I wasn't making on other boards. I was recovering from turns very smoothly. I was worried I might trade a perfectly functioning board for an unproven surf craft. The weight and balance of this board is AWESOME. I am lucky. SUPER NICE!!! I am so excited to push this board.

Thank you Jim Shank and Jim Phillips!!

Jim Phillips pt 3

You can't deny the beauty of simplicity.

This is Michael's (Log Donkey on lb.net) 10'1" redwood stringer 8oz volan + 8oz deck patch custom fin by Jim Phillips as well
He says of this beautiful surf craft:

"turns like a dream - locks in to the wave and GLIIIIDES very stable"
SUPER NICE!!! thanks for sharing.

Jim Phillips pt 2

Balsa Bill posted this on a thread I started over at swaylocks. Thought I'd post it here for those of you that aren't over there. Here is what Balsa Bill had to say about it :
"Shaped for me by Jim Phillips last year. 9'11 semi pig. Current personal rider. Custom chambered. 26 lbs."
Super NICE!!

My buddy Miles from Corpus Christi, Tx sent me the picture below. What the F-U-C-K? That board on the left is hard to wrap your head around. Then you see what is happening on the right!
WoW! Miles wrote the following about his experiences with that board :

"I wanted the fancy stringer work that Jim does and that board came out to be 32.5 lbs at 10’8” in length. It’s not quite the paddler I was expecting with all that weight but is still fun and I’ve only had it out a handful of times. I had one almost chest high wall that I was noseriding in a parallel stance 2” from the tip so it would be interesting to see what someone who knew what they were doing could do on it."

The ever humble Miles has some more shots of this amazing Pig. I'll be updating this post later.

Thanks Miles!!

Jim "the Genius" Phillips

Jim Phillips rules.

I have a 10' Lance Carson "classic 60's pin tail" that I am trading with Jim Shank. My Carson is in Very Good condition. It is an amazing board. It surfs really well. If I were not obsessed with Pig's this trade would not even have been a thought. Fortunately I am, and fortunately Jim Shank knows a good board when one is in front of him.

I originally declined the offer to trade due to needing cash. I am STOKED things have worked out the way they have. After hearing Gene Cooper speak very highly of Jim phillips and after seeing so many of his INCREDIBLE mind blowing boards, and after reading about his history... I have been VERY interested in sliding one.

This Pig is SUPER CLEAN. NICE WORK!!

Below is what Jim Shank had to say about his then "new board" :

"I picked up my new custom 9'10" semi-pig from Jim Phillps today. It was exactly what I've been wanting for so long. 16.5" nose (downrail kinda like the Con Wingnose), 23.5" wide (wide point pulled back about a foot), 17" tail with a beautiful John Cherry old style D fin about 2.5" up. Jim said his template was taken from an old Velzy-Jacobs balsa pig. Walker "Old Man" foam and a big T-band stringer (balsa/redwood). Double 8 oz. Volan both sides. No leash attachment. Rocker is pretty mellow/flat but with some kick right in the tail. 50/50 rails except down in the nose. Thanks Jim for the bitchen board! I can't wait to trim some walls at Malibu."

With that I too say thank you Jim, but I am actually saying it to two Jim's!
